Are Psychic Mediums Real? Read On to Find Out!

January 24th, 2010

In the world of paranormal phenomena, there may be no bigger area of controversy than psychic mediums, or people who claim to be able to “channel” discarnate energies from the great beyond. On the surface, no matter what your religious, spiritual or scientific bias may be, it does seem to be a bit of a stretch to believe. But when you pull back the veil a bit, and really study some of the phenomenal results that many gifted psychic mediums appear to achieve, many people begin to find their skepticism melting away. Read on as we take a closer look!
The history and of parapsychology and psychical research are filled with quacks, crooks and charlatans of one stripe or another, who have consistently claimed to be in contact with the spirits of the dead. There have been hundreds of mediums who have been studies closely by scientific scrutiny, and it should be no surprise that few of them passed the muster of close inspection. But there have been more than a few who have, and in the famous words of William James, the great intellectual powerhouse of the 19th century, “only one white crow is necessary to disprove the notion that all crows are black”.
In other words, to prove that a medium can indeed contact the dead, you only need ONE authentic actor in the bunch. Interestingly enough, James and his fellow intellectual cohorts did believe they found their white crow in the person of one Lenora Piper, an internationally famous trance medium at the end of the 19th century.
Even whilst skeptics and cynics scoff at the likes of the John Edward, Bill Anderson, and the variety of television mediums who entertain daily across the globe, serious scientists like Gary Schwartz at the University of Arizona, the late Ian Stevenson and MANY other researchers with impeccable credentials have lent their mental muscle to this fascinating combination of science and spirit, and with some pretty incredible results and conclusions!
Regardless of where you fall on the totem pole of belief, this is incredibly powerful stuff, and the implications for all of us, nothing short of transformational, especially for those willing to suspend disbelief and explore the possibilities with eagle eyes and an open mind. But don’t take my word for it, go out and decide for yourself. You might be surprised at where it leads you!
